The Nourse
City Arts & Lectures is restoring a theater!
This year, City Arts & Lectures will embark on an ambitious project to restore The Nourse Auditorium, a landmark venue located in the heart of San Francisco’s Performing Arts Center that been closed to the public for over thirty years. The 1,800-seat hall features excellent acoustics, a well-designed layout offering unobstructed views throughout the orchestra and balcony, and original architectural details; it’s an ideal venue for a wide range of performances as well as a uniquely beautiful setting. A restored Nourse will offer much-needed space to an abundance of cultural presenters, many of whom find themselves without venues to showcase their work. City Arts & Lectures is excited to restore the Nourse to working order with a minimal amount of repair and redecoration and provide San Franciscans access to a theatre with remarkable character and profound historical significance.
