Hosted by Dave Eggers & Sydney Goldstein
wednesday, april 14, 2010 |
Hayes Street Grill, 7 pm
David Remnick is an award-winning journalist, best-selling author, and the editor of The New Yorker magazine. Remnick began his career at The Washington Post where he served as the Moscow correspondent. His foreign reporting became the material for a 1994 Pulitzer Prize winning book, Lenin’s Tomb: The Last Days of the Soviet Empire. In 1992, Remnick joined The New Yorker as a staff writer and became the editor-in-chief in 1998. His magazine writing has received numerous awards including a National Magazine award for “The Dynamite Blows Up,” an article about boxer Mike Tyson. He is also the author of King of the World, a best-selling work about the life of Muhammad Ali. His forthcoming book, The Bridge: The Life and Rise of Barack Obama, is a meticulously researched account of the 44th President’s historic election. Based on hundreds of on-the-record interviews, The Bridge offers a richly detailed narrative about Barack Obama’s life, work, and the complexities of race in American politics.
